    I don't know anything about this TOWHEADS, but the images and the actress' facial expressions / overall appearance do bear enough similarities to suggest an homage going on.

    Loden was wed to Elia Kazan and Shannon Plumb (star and director of TOWHEADS) wife to Derek Cianfrance (dir. BLUE VALENTINE, etc).
    both films have a lot in common though TOWHEADS radically irreverent. (eg there is a stripping scene reminiscent of CELINE AND JULIE...but goofier sort of) Put out thru Artists Public Domain. Currently screening a couple more nites at MoMA and also avail for monthly rental on itunes. recommended. also, both films are screening in a theater tonight Could be a sick doub feature in a theater or at home.
